We all loved the 90s; the gothic grunge look represented a new daring look for women with mesh tops, chokers and oversized cross pendants. Other prissier looks for women would include plaid miniskirts, crop tops and fur coats paired with dolly shoes, knee-high boots and platform shoes.

Clueless highlights the 90s fashion perfectly, the film follows upper class Beverly Hills, Cher Horowitz, the 90s fashion fanatic that all girls wished to be. The film is filled with fashion that at that time only wealthy teen girls, like Cher herself could afford. However, the trend is still out there today and in most of our favourite shops… As if!

  1. Miniskirts

Miniskirts range from vinyl, to faux leather, to plaid, to cord in Clueless. Primark have a range of faux leather skirts; the image below portrays their grey faux leather skirt purchased for £6!

The skirt is similar to Dionne’s style, her character wears a lot of vinyl clothing. PVC was ideal for futuristic clothing, but in the 90s it was prevalent in young people’s lives. It was especially seen on the media with TV presenters, models and actors. Dionne wears a red PVC mini skirt, her fashion sense was always more daring than Cher’s.

Prettylittlething have red vinyl skirts corresponding to Dionne’s from Clueless, this portraying 2017’s love for the 90s look. The cheapest skirt comes in at just £12 beating all the designer prices out there.

Cher would shop designer outfits such as Calvin Klein, Alaia and Dolce and Gabanna, however prettylittlething have a wide range of plaid skirts; a red skirt like Cher’s only £15 (image portrayed below). They also have a replica of the iconic yellow plaid outfit (also replicated in Iggy Azalea’s top charting hit ‘fancy’) this portraying how plaid has made a lasting impact on fashion.

2. Slip dresses

Looking for a party dress? 2017 adores the slip dress. Cher Horowitz wore a stunning red satin slip dress, with bright red lips for her date with Christian, the colour is glamorous and powerful (image below).

Slip dresses were the new underwear-as-outwear, often trimmed with lace. Our high street shops have a big range today including missguided; this burgundy lace trimmed slip dress comes in at £18 (pictured below). I paired it with knee-high boots to emphasise a going out look rather than a night-wear look.

Cher is also seen in a blue slip dress which corresponds to the different slip dresses we have today. Boohoo.com still exhibit the lace trim but they also vary in length, pattern and material that adds a modern concept to the look.

These Four completely different styles of slip dresses are available to buy from Boohoo.com, from the vibrant orange, long length dress that is perfect to take away with you on holiday, to the glitzy pink satin dress that is perfect to party in!

3. Chokers

Chokers were all part of the 90s goth grunge look, Clueless highlights the gothic grunge look with the mix of Cher’s innocent look, and Dionne’s more daring look.

Cher’s jewelled choker is classy and elegant and takes away the gothic vibe. Many shops have these style of chokers available to purchase.
