My gradual transformation to the spring wardrobe

Throughout the long dreary winter months, many yearn for summer. The warmth of the sun beating down on your skin, leaving you bronzed and glowing for the slightly cooler, light evenings. You only have to step outside in your strappy summer dress, with your beautifully beaded sandals, feeling sun-kissed and detoxed from a long day at the beach. Those are the days this spring season is leading to, and I am gradually transforming my winter wardrobe to clothes more appropriate for this burst of warm weather.

Despite my longing for the summer season, I love my winter clothes. Filling my wardrobe with cosy, colourful knits, and an array of coats and jackets is exciting. My ultimate favourite this winter has been checks! From mini check skirts, to my check jacket, it initiates that 90s Cher Horowitz look from Clueless.

However, this week has had a burst of hot weather, temperatures reaching as high as 28 degrees in London. Unfortunately I was stuck indoors working on assignments, but this sudden heat wave sent people rushing for the shops in a panic to buy new summer clothes. I have put together some clothes for this blog that are ideal for the weather, and perfect for the trends of 2018.

I’ve started my new spring collection off with a cute white, frilly top from Zara. The top is perfect for the current weather as it has 3/4 length sleeves that cover you for the cooler evenings. Click the link below to shop this look.

Zara’s whole collection at the moment has got me excited for summer. The shop is bursting with vibrant colours and funky patterns that shout out ‘SUMMER IS COMING!’

The collection includes various clothes with contrast print and floral patterns. There is also crotchet and cable knit material in the colours of red, green, yellow, and many more. Perfect items of clothing to consider for the upcoming festivals!

Although I love this style of clothing, so far I have stuck to the cute, frilly Spring tops. My next new addition comes from In The Style. The top is perfect for a hot summer’s day. I initially went for the smallest size which fits perfectly however, the straps are a little loose and tend to fall down. This can be ideal for the days you spend walking in the sun, trying to avoid those dodgy tan lines, but if you want them to stay up, you would most likely have to tighten them yourself. Click the link below to buy the top.

Gingham always attracts me, the pattern is very close to another favourite of mine, check. You’re able to pair this top with an array of items including blue jeans, dungarees, or even a pair of smart trousers for the evening.

Another one of my favourites for the spring 2018 look is the assortment of prints, meaning it is not all about florals! Colourful plaid continues to flourish in stores, creating more of a summer vibe with its burst of yellows and pinks.

The polka dot pattern is still making it big, especially with the spring collection from missguided. They have paired the cute pattern with tea and wrap dresses, in a beautiful assortment of different colours.

However you dress for Spring, there are a variety of styles out there as of 2018. I’ve never been much of a ‘pattern’ person, but stripes, polka dots and gingham has really grown on me, and I’m glad to be giving it a chance 🙂
