I’ve always dreamt of visiting the particularly well-known parts of Italy, like Rome and Venice, however, when Sorrento became an option, I was intrigued. This Italian coastal town is similarly touristy like the others, but if I’m honest, I didn’t know too much about the place.
After doing some research, I learnt of all the AMAZING things you can do in this part of Italy. It sounds rather cliché, but Sorrento really is for everyone. Whether you’re looking for some adventure or relaxation; Sorrento should be on your where-to-go-next list.
So, sit back, relax, and enjoy reading about everything you can do in and around the beautiful Italian town, Sorrento.
Adventurers will love Pompeii

Not far from this coastal area, is the archaeological site, Pompeii. If you love adventure and learning, this short trip from your stay is worth a visit. This Roman city was buried under ash and pumice after Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D. Just remember your hats and sunscreen; there’s no shelter and boy was it hot and sweaty!
The Dreamy Island of Capri

Just a short boat trip away from Sorrento is the dreamy Island of Capri. With breath-taking views of crystal clear blue water, petite boutiques selling handmade leather sandals and many designer shops; this day trip is perfect for those wanting to relax and have a stroll. You can’t come to Italy without trying the local restaurants, right? Indulge in some of the best eateries! Highlight of the trip was the cable seat ride – for just 12 euros you get to sit back and relax in a little seat that takes you high, so you can enjoy your surroundings.
A day in Positano and Amalfi

This two-place trip was done in one day and was definitely the highlight of my holiday.
Although quite packed with tourists, this day trip certainly had a bit more of a busy buzz than the Island of Capri did. Positano has gorgeous scenes of colourful houses and packed restaurants. You can take little walks up and down the streets, but I definitely advise comfortable footwear and airy clothing as many are uphill.

Amalfi is as breath-taking as the pictures you see online- if not more! I adored the array of colourful parasols across the beaches, they are in my eyes such an icon of the Amalfi Coast! There’s a small charge to access the beaches, however this is to help keep them cleaner, and it includes your sun lounger and parasol for the day. If the beach isn’t for you, then enjoy a roam around the town centre amongst the best gelato places.
Your time in Sorrento

Lastly, your time based in Sorrento will be relaxing. The town is full of atmosphere, enjoy getting lost down the little winding side streets with endless shops, restaurants, and cafes. Get a little tipsy in one of the many limoncello shops, you can try lots of different flavours (they’re really rather generous with handing out lots of free shots to you) such as melon! You’re also only a short 15 minute walk from the harbour where you can paddle in the clear water, and enjoy some amazing fresh, local seafood.
